Newly re-married Charles is working on his next novel in his country home.  It deals with the occult, so Charles invites an eccentric lady medium to hold a séance to learn the language of the pracitioners of the arcane arts.  But the ceremony summons Charles' first wife, who “passed over” seven years ago, and she doesn't want to leave.  Charles is the only one who can see or hear her, so first he has to convice the other that he isn't going mad.  Then he has to discover a way to return peace to his now-frantic life.
